Due to gridlock in Barcelona on 23/04/2025 the bus was unable to get to the pickup point at Plaça de Catalunya so a compay rep came along and directed us to an alternate location about 10 minutes away. A simple thing to do but they did it and in doing so looked after their customers.

Booking the ticket in advance was very useful, as it meant getting on much quicker. Once the bus left the airport it was a quick ride to the city centre and far cheaper than a taxi or Uber (they were around 45 euros). The little map on the ticket was not helpful and there are no signs in the airport, so if you fly in with Ryanair, leave terminal 2, turn right and walk to the far end underneath a large "B". Enlarge the QR code as its tiny on the ticket and the driver will need it enlarged.

The transfer service from the airport to placa catalunya is fast and on time. If I may point out one flaw, the date of purchase is listed on the tickets as the validity date, when in fact the document is valid for 90 days. This creates some confusion when making the return leg.

It was a smooth journey from the airport to Placa Catalunya. I like how there is a screen to let the tourist know which bus stop was it. The ticketing and online system were easy to navigate as well. It would be awesome if there was a system for that as well at Placa Catalunya (I had also took the bus back to the airport on another day). It was in the afternoon and there were more passengers and tourists. Some were not sure of what to do and where to queue (it seemed there were two groups of passengers as one of the ticketing officer were talking to one of the group, the rest of the officers were under a tent). It was very confusing.

Our flight arrived 6:30 am. We headed directly to the Aerobus after collecting our luggage. I had my printed ticket from home with QR CODE. We got on the bus and communicated to the friendly people we wanted to stop at Placa Catalunya. They helped with luggage on and off the bus. Loved the guide and the whole park was great! The directions to the park were terrible! We weren't the only ones to get caught out with the entrance and the meeting point. There are a number of entrances and some maps seems to take you though them which is not possible. It's one way to get your steps in and I don't think k my calves will ever be the same again (climbed 43 FLIGHTS on steps!) tying to find the meeting point!

That said, tour guide Marc spoke amazing English and gave a very informative talk about the history of Park Güell with a lot of humour thrown in. Well, I wouldn't say it's entirely your fault - I didn't check carefully either. It's a hop-on hop-off package, but if you don't check the dates carefully, as I didn't, you risk getting tickets that don't match. Our tickets for Parc Güell were not for the same day as those on the tour bus - there was a week's difference! So, my advice: stay calm and be very careful when buying tickets on unofficial websites.

It was so easy to get the tickets at the airport information desk. The lady we dealt with was so polite and professional. Picked up the tickets, headed to the Metro and off to the hotel. We used the Barcelona card to gain discounted access to some muesums, the cable car and the aquarium. The card is a must - the discounts may be small in some locations, but they do add up. Well worth it.

La Hola has greatly expedited travel times on both metro and surface. Only downside: the Liceu metro entrance ticket office on April 2 denied access. After several attempts, at least 10' later, it accepted the Hola which was still valid. If we had not insisted we would have had to buy tickets.

The Hola Barcelona trevel card is good in itself. It was difficult to redeem the Hola card to get the right ticket. We didn't find a stand at the airport or in the metro. Only outside the metro at Catalania Square was there a small red stand where you could exchange the ticket. We would buy the ticket again directly at the metro station.

Access to all buses and metros is perfect for a stress-free vacation in Barcelona. You no longer have to worry about fare zones or ticket prices. It is a bit strange that you get a QR code and then get a physical card at a ticket counter. It would be much better if you could use your cell phone as a card. Or at least get a plastic card instead of a paper card (reusable and more stable/waterproof).
