A very attentive guide who clearly explained the origins of the park. She gave clear details about each work by Antoni Gaudí. A wealth of impressive details that contextualized the entire work and also its correlation with other works in the city of Barcelona. A work aimed at the wealthier class, which above all did not attract future residents. Only one person lives there, and I found its integration with the school interesting. It is important to note the limitation on the number of people allowed in for the preservation and safety of the children who study there. Wonderful view of the city and the port. In addition to the details, the intelligence in creating a rainwater reservoir and the plan to create a market in the columns. Wonderful.

I had a reservation for 9:30 AM, and although I had to wait in line a bit before the gates opened, I had the Headout app installed, so entry was very smooth. The entrance I used was opposite the main gate, but going to see the lizard statue near the main gate first thing in the morning meant there were few people around, making it easy to take photos.

The audio guides are interesting. I couldn't find the park entrance at the Park Güell stop. I didn't lose my paper ticket, but it could also be available on my phone. The Serpentine Bench

It is a mosaic-tiled seating structure that winds along the terrace of Park Guell. Designed using Gaudí's innovative Trencandis technique, the bench showcases a serpentine form with a spectrum of vibrant tones from green to blue. It is crafted from discarded tiles sourced from a nearby factory!

The Greek Theatre or Nature Square

The heart of Park Guell is a vast open space, originally envisioned by Gaudí as a Greek Theatre. Today, it's more commonly known as the Nature Square or Plaça de la Natura. This remarkable space features 86 fluted columns, and where columns are absent, the design simulates three naves akin to a grand temple. The Gardens of Austria

Originally designated for urban plots, the area now known as Austria's Gardens in Park Guell transformed into a municipal nursery when the park became public. Named after Austria's tree donation during the "Vienna in Barcelona" exhibition in 1977, the garden offers panoramic views and has two houses in its center.

The Laundry Room Portico

Tucked away from the main tourist routes, the Laundry Room Portico offers a quieter and more intimate experience of Park Guell. Located on the eastern side of the Nature Square, the Laundry Room Portico has an original iron gate leading to Casa Larrard's former gardens. Set above the house, it winds through a pine grove with a portico resembling a wave on inclined columns—a prime example of Gaudi's cherished organic architecture.

The Roadways Pathways, and Viaducts

Designed by Antonio Gaudi, three five-meter-wide viaducts lead to the hill of the Three Crosses. A ten-meter-wide transversal road connects Carmel Road to the Sant Josep de la Muntanya exit. Gaudi also crafted three-meter-wide pedestrian paths featuring stairs and slopes, providing direct access to various plots.

Walk of the Palm Trees

Explore the Walk of the Palm Trees, Park Guell's broadest boulevard. This street, spanning 10 meters in width, links Carmel Road to the Sant Josep de la Muntanya exit, running along the expansive square from above. Gaudi's design also includes three-meter-wide pedestrian paths, offering shortcuts with stairs and slopes for direct access to various plots.

Monumental Zone: This is where the magic happens. This 12-hectare area is home to all the iconic Gaudí designs: the colorful mosaic lizard, the wavy bench with postcard views, and those twisty stone columns. It’s the heart of the park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, no less!

Forest Zone: This lesser-known zone is the park’s quieter side. Spread across 8 hectares, it’s full of greenery, walking trails, and peaceful spots to relax. No mosaics here—just nature doing its thing.

The whole park is open to visitors, but since 2013, entry to the Monumental Zone has been regulated to avoid big crowds. So, you’ll need to book your ticket in advance to get in. Locals with a Neighbour’s Card or Gaudir Més pass can waltz in without a booking—lucky them!

Park Guell Entrances

Park Güell has three entrances.

  • Carrer de Larrard: The main entrance to the park lies at the intersection of Carrer de Larrard and Carrer d’Olot.
  • Carretera del Carmel: This entrance is located next to the parking lot for tourist coaches (Please note that this car park is specifically for groups and not for general use).
  • at This entrance can be accessed using one of the three available escalators, sparing you most of the climb up the hill.

Residents of Barcelona can enter Park Güell for free at any time during its opening hours; access is reserved for the residents of the city, and tourist visits are not allowed during certain hours. Booking in advance is not necessary; however, you will need to prove that you are a resident.

  • Opening hours: The park is open every day of the week.
  • Closing time: The closing time varies depending on the time of year. During the peak tourist season (spring and summer), it may close later in the evening, while in the off-peak season, it may close earlier.
  • From 1 January to 16 February: 9.30am to 5.30pm 
  • From 17 February to 24 March: 9.30am to 6pm 
  • From 25 March to 29 October: 9.30am to 8.30pm
  • From 30 October to 31 December: 9.30am to 5.30pm

By Bus: You can take bus lines 24 or 92 that stop at Carretera del Carmel-Park Güell, which is right across the park’s main entrance.

Bus routes H6 and D40 and stop at Travessera de Dalt, which is a 10-minute walk

By Metro: Take the green line (L3). You can either alight at Lesseps or at Vallcarca station

By Car: If you arrive by car at Park Güell you can park in the BSM Travessera de Dalt - Park Güell car park. We recommend that you reserve your place in advance.

​By Hop-on hop-off bus:Park Güell is closest stop in Barcelona City Tour through and Barcelona Bus Turístic through the green route.

  • Restrooms: Clean and convenient restrooms are available near all main entrances. So, no need to panic mid-mosaic.
  • Free Wi-Fi: Stay connected while you stroll—free Wi-Fi is available in most parts of the park, perfect for uploading that iconic lizard selfie.
  • Restaurant/Café: While there’s no full restaurant in the Monumental Zone, you’ll find a small café near the main entrance for quick bites, coffee, and cold drinks.
  • Gift shop: Forgot to buy a souvenir? The official gift shop near the entrance has you covered with Gaudí-inspired goodies and quirky keepsakes.
  • Water fountains: Bring a refillable bottle, as there are a few public water fountains around the park to help you stay hydrated under that Barcelona sun.

​Laie Park Güell Bookshop & Café: Located just outside the Monumental Zone, near the Carretera del Carmel entrance, it's more of a light café where you can grab a coffee, cold drinks, and snacks.

​Terra Mia: A cozy, highly rated café offering coffee, sandwiches, and pastries, just a short walk from the main entrance. Perfect for a light bite or afternoon caffeine fix.

​Las Delicias: This local gem is just a short stroll from Park Güell and feels like one of those places only the neighborhood regulars know about. It’s laid-back, budget-friendly, and serves up classic Spanish comfort food.

​Güelly sandwichpark: This little hole-in-the-wall just steps from Park Güell serves up baguette sandwiches, crispy empanadas, and refreshing juices. Ideal for grabbing a bite before diving back into your Gaudí adventure.

  • Stay on designated paths: Visitors are typically required to stay on designated paths and trails. 
  • No smoking: Smoking may be prohibited in certain areas of the park.
  • No bicycles or skateboards: The use of bicycles, skateboards, and other similar devices is restricted.
  • No picnics in restricted areas: Visitors are usually required to avoid picnicking in restricted zones.
  • Respect artistic elements: Visitors should respect and not climb on or touch the artistic elements, sculptures, or architectural features to prevent damage.
  • Dispose of waste properly: Use designated bins for waste disposal.
  • Follow guided tour rules: If you join a guided tour, follow the rules and instructions provided by the tour guide to ensure a smooth and informative experience.

  • Entry to the Monumental Zone is timed and limited to avoid overcrowding. Booking ahead of time is the only way to guarantee your preferred slot, especially on weekends or holidays.
  • Want better photos and breathing room? Aim for early morning or late afternoon. Midday gets busy, and the lighting isn’t as kind to your camera roll.
  • The Carrer del Carmel entrance is the most convenient if you're arriving by bus or taxi. It’s flat, no stairs, and closest to the famous dragon stairway.
  • The park is built on a hill, and some paths are steep or uneven. Leave the sandals at home and go for shoes you can comfortably walk in for a couple of hours.
  • The park is big, with winding paths that can get confusing. Download the Park Güell map or use offline GPS so you don’t get lost in a Gaudí maze.
  • There are no restaurants inside the Monumental Zone, and the café options are limited. Pack a water bottle and a light snack—especially in summer when the Barcelona sun means business.
  • Add your Park Güell visit to a Barcelona City Card to unlock more Gaudí sites.
