Among its diverse attractions, Barcelona Zoo boasts a primate house, terrarium, and a captivating "Land of Dragons" featuring Komodo dragons and five other exotic species from the Asia Pacific. The zoo's modern recreations of their natural habitats provide visitors with an immersive experience. Additionally, the zoo offers dolphin shows at its Aquarama.

In a terrifying incident on December 8, 2014, a 45-year-old man was rescued from a lion enclosure at Barcelona Zoo after being seriously mauled by three lions. Witnesses reported seeing him jump into the enclosure, resulting in injuries from bites and scratches. Fortunately, he was rescued and eventually recovered.

Barcelona Zoo made headlines in December 2020 when four of its lions tested positive for COVID-19, marking one of the few instances of large felines contracting the virus. The zoo's staff, familiar with the animals' routines, conducted PCR tests on them, and provided veterinary care akin to treating a mild flu. The lions responded well to the treatment and close monitoring.
