Barcelona Aquarium isn’t just a place you visit—it’s a place you feel. Walking through the glass tunnel with sharks and rays gliding silently above creates a surreal, almost cinematic moment that stays with you long after you leave. What truly sets it apart is how immersive and well-paced the experience is, especially for families—every zone invites curiosity without feeling overwhelming. It’s clean, thoughtfully designed, and manages to balance education with genuine wonder. Easily one of the most memorable highlights of our trip.

The first time I visited La Pedrera, my children were young, and I hadn’t been back on any of my subsequent trips to Barcelona. I didn’t remember what I’d seen back then. I loved coming back and learning a little more about Gaudí’s work.

It’s very easy to get to Gaudí’s two iconic houses, and you can get a small discount. Tip: early morning visits are less crowded. It gets very busy, especially in some of the narrower rooms, but the time-stamped tickets help regulate the flow of visitors. The audio guides are very informative, and these houses are a must-see. Special mention goes to the attic and terrace of La Pedrera—they’re absolutely stunning!

Friendly and helpful staff. Short wait times when transferring buses and continuing the journey. Everything was very well organized.

The audio guides are interesting. I couldn't find the park entrance at the Park Güell stop. I didn't lose my paper ticket, but it could also be available on my phone. What if something unexpected happens? The hours could be extended into the evening. The audio description doesn't always match the location.

The Aquarium of Barcelona gets more fascinating the deeper you go in. In the beginning there was a small show for younger kids that got everyone super hooked and ready to enter the aquarium. When we entered there was a lot of sea animals. At first the don’t catch your attention but as you read the information about each fish given below it is so interesting to see how the work. There was a lot of unique, colorful and fun fish and more uncommon animals such as the seahorses and starfishes. There was a tunnel area where it was all glass around us and we could really see the animals fully in their more natural habitat. It also gave everyone a really good view of each animal to really get to see them better. My favorites were the seahorses, sting rays, sharks and eels. You cannot miss it! It was so amazing that even the young kids who were there had a fun time and didn’t cry once. Overall my favorites was the tunnel and there are two tunnels. After there is a feeding koi area.

Things to know before booking your Barcelona Aquarium tickets

Booking window

  • Many visitors book their tickets on the same day or 1–2 days before the visit; however, during weekends, school holidays, or public holidays, it is advisable to pre-book online to secure entry.
  • Booking skip-the-line tickets a few days in advance will help you save the time spent waiting in long queues, especially during the peak season.

Entry & access

  • All visitors enter through the main entrance at Moll d’Espanya beside the Maremàgnum center; your ticket is scanned at the ground‑level turnstiles.
  • Skip‐the‐line tickets allow you to bypass the ticket purchase queue, but you will still have to go through the mandatory security screening.

What’s included

  • Flexible entry tickets provide one‑time entry, valid for 90 days from the time of your booking. They grant you full access to all the exhibits, just as you get with the skip-the-line tickets.
  • These self-guided experiences let you explore at your own pace with on‑site informational panels and a free mobile app guide available in several languages.
  • Special experiences (such as shark dives or sleepover programs) are not included in standard admission and must be booked separately.

Ways to explore

  • Most visitors complete a self‑guided tour of the aquarium in approximately 1.5–3 hours, moving through themed zones from shallow Mediterranean habitats to the impressive Oceanarium tunnel.
  • If you’re always looking for a good deal, the combo with the Las Golondrinas boat trip gets you two experiences with a single booking, both of which you can do on any chosen day.

Restrictions & policies

  • Tickets are valid for a single entry. If you exit the aquarium midway and want to re-enter, you will need to purchase a new ticket.
  • Children under 3 enter for free, and reduced fares apply to eligible groups; proof of age or disability may be required at entry.
  • While the complex is designed to be wheelchair and stroller accessible, high visitor volumes in certain areas (such as the tunnel) may cause delays.
  • Feeding the animals is strictly prohibited, as is the use of flash photography. Additionally, all luggage and personal items must be stored in the lockers available for rent near the entrance. Don’t worry, there are three sizes, so you can store anything from smaller daypacks to larger bags.
