The centerpiece is IDEAL's vast immersive room, where more than 1,000 m² of projection surfaces turn walls and surrounding spaces into moving digital scenes. Music, narration and animation make the story feel less like something you watch and more like somewhere you enter.

Walk through ancient Rome

Large-scale digital storytelling recreates Roman life, architecture and spectacle, taking you closer to the atmosphere of Pompeii before Mount Vesuvius erupted. The experience combines historical themes with cinematic visuals to make the past feel immediate and tangible.

Experience the eruption

The exhibition builds towards the destruction of Pompeii, using projections, sound and immersive effects to recreate the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Allow part of your roughly 90-minute visit for this central sequence, which forms the dramatic payoff of the experience.

  • Keep your camera flash off: Photography is allowed, so bring your phone or camera, but switch off the flash. The darker projection spaces make silhouettes and wide-angle shots particularly atmospheric.
  • Pair it with Montjuïc: IDEAL’s location makes it easy to build a half-day around the visit. Pair your immersive experience with nearby Montjuïc sights rather than treating it as a standalone stop, especially if you have limited time in Barcelona.
